During the process of our wearable structure we created a variety of paper manipulation techniques experimenting with paper folds, reversible folds to discover a fan structure and curving the book pages to give them a golden section composition. By adding shape to the bodice of the wearable structure we stapled the hip areas to form creases which made it contour the model’s figure. The successful elements of our wearable design is the depth of detail being presented through the textures of the folded book pages. The fan shaped paper was built up in layers which lead to a dramatic and textured area on the structure. The overall composition of the wearable piece enhances the model’s figure and forms a powerful statement of the shoulders that are on show, contrasting with the subtle colours of the paper. The lack of colour from the book pages enhances the texture and surface of the paper manipulations that form the structure. The hints of burnt orange throughout the front of the piece attracts the eye and generates a subtle alteration to the simplistic book pages that are displayed as our only material.
